Glug-Glug Giving
Community Sponsorship of Youth Sport
#Little Bits Make A Lot
Glug-Glug Giving is a Kenton on Sea community initiative to give all members of our barefoot capital the opportunity to participate in the sponsorship of the Ubuntu Cup Sports League and keep our youth from Ekuphumleni, Marselle, Klipfontein and Alexandria engaged in positive mentorship and playing sport – with all its benefits!
The Kariega Foundation in partnership with Volo, create Glug-Glug Giving opportunities all through the year for Kenton on Sea businesses and residents to participate in community giving.
Our efforts culminate in Glug-Glug Giving Day on 16 December when we bring the good vibes and give a final push to achieve our target to raise the funds to sponsor 60 Ubuntu Cup teams with over 700 players across netball, soccer and tennis.
Glug-Glug Giving is about lots of little bits adding up to a lot – creating a shared sense of community love and accomplishment because we have done it together!

Ubuntu Cup Sporting Heroes
The Ubuntu Cup is the competitive extension of the Kariega Foundation Sport Programme, embodying the spirit of ubuntu—“I am because we are.” It offers structured soccer and netball leagues for over 700 youth (and growing), providing access to organised sport, proper coaching, and opportunities for personal and athletic growth.
Centred on sportsmanship and values-based participation, the league builds unity, respect, and character within local communities. Its success is reflected in milestones such as the selection of players to regional and international tournaments.
The Ubuntu League not only nurtures sporting talent but also strengthens social cohesion, pride, and aspiration among the youth—demonstrating the transformative power of sport in community development.
