A generation of self-motived young adults with enhanced self-management and relationship building skills are emerging from our communities eager to engage in further skills development that lead to employment or entrepreneurship opportunities.

This is what we currently offer. All learnerships are fully funded and candidates are selected via a stringent application and interview process.

Community-Based Field Ranger Training

Duration: 12 months

6 week training course followed by 10 month, mentored internship.

Qualification: NQF2 

The NQF2 Field Ranger or Park Ranger qualification focuses on the essential skills and knowledge required for individuals working in conservation areas, reserves, and parks. This entry-level certification provides training for individuals to become field or park rangers responsible for the protection and management of wildlife and natural environments.

This qualification equips field rangers with the knowledge and practical experience to work effectively in natural resource protection, wildlife monitoring, and conservation law enforcement. It emphasises the balance between operational skills, environmental awareness, and legal responsibilities.

Community-Based Field Guide Training

Duration: 9 months

Qualification: FGASA Apprentice Field Guide / NQF2

This is an entry-level certification for aspiring field guides in South Africa. It provides foundational knowledge and skills for guiding in nature-based tourism and covers several key areas.

Completing the FGASA NQF2 certification enables individuals to register as a Field Guide with the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) to be legally employed as field guides in South Africa. The qualification provides them with the foundational knowledge and practical experience necessary to grow in the field of nature guiding as a career.

Alien Plant Control Operator Training

Duration: 1 Month

Certifications: SAQA Chainsaw Operator and Applied Fire Fighting Technician

The Alien Plant Control Operator training program provides participants with the critical expertise required for the effective management of invasive plant species. In addition to in-depth instruction on plant control, the program emphasises essential safety protocols.

Umuzi IT Learnership 

Duration: 12 months

Accreditation: MICT and SETA

On-line opportunity to learn real world IT skills from working professionals, with an 80% chance of employment on completion.

Social and Emotional Learning SACE Training

Duration: 1 year

Accreditation: SACE

A training and mentorship opportunity to complete both the theory and practical elements of the SEL SACE Accredited Course, including training on the delivery of the COOL TO BE ME, SEL curriculum with educator and learner resources.

Ideal for educators working in Primary Schools or practitioners working with youth in community projects.

Hospitality Training

Duration: 3 months

Indoni Ezintle are a group of young dancers from Ekuphumleni who dance for our guests at Main Lodge on Boma nights. Dancers range from 11 years old up to 18 years old. Regular exposure to hospitality and international guests prepares them well for a career in hospitality. On graduation from the Indoni Ezintle, at 18 years old, dancers get the opportunity to complete hospitality training which includes a theory and practical component.

Legacy Bursary

Duration: 1 year

Qualification: Post graduate degree or diploma

The recipient of the Legacy Bursary for post graduate education must have been educated at one of our partner schools and live in one of our beneficiary communities. Ideally the selected candidate has chosen to study a degree or diploma in a skills development area that will ultimately benefit the community. For example: teaching, law, accounts, social work or nursing. This is bursary is awarded to a post-graduate student.
